GROW Together Therapy Program
Identity • Needs • Communication • Whole-Person Understanding
A Neuroaffirming Group Program for Emotional Regulation, Executive Functioning & Problem-Solving

The GROW Together Therapy Program is a neuroaffirming, evidence-informed group program designed for neurodivergent children and young people who benefit from structured, supportive opportunities to deepen their understanding of self, emotions, needs, communication patterns, and problem-solving skills.
Grounded in the GROW™ Neuroaffirming Behaviour Framework, this program moves away from traditional “behaviour management” approaches. Instead, it focuses on identity, unmet needs, communication differences, and the whole-person lens, empowering young people to understand themselves, advocate for what they need, and develop practical strategies for navigating daily life with confidence and agency.
GROW Together helps participants:
-
Build emotional insight using neuroaffirming language
-
Understand their sensory profile, triggers, and body clues
-
Recognise how unmet needs influence behaviour
-
Strengthen flexible thinking and executive functioning skills
-
Develop personalised strategies for managing tricky moments
-
Improve communication and self-advocacy
-
Increase self-confidence, self-acceptance, and resilience
-
Navigate friendships, routines, transitions, and challenges through an identity-centred lens
At its heart, GROW Together helps neurodivergent children and teens feel safe, understood, and empowered — without masking, compliance pressure, or changing who they are.
Who Is This Program For?
GROW Together is designed for neurodivergent children and young people aged 9–12 years and 13–17 years who would benefit from therapy-based group support in emotional regulation, executive functioning, communication, and self-advocacy.

The program supports autistic participants, ADHDers, PDAers, individuals with developmental delay, sensory processing differences, anxiety presentations, and communication differences.

Sessions include multiple learning modalities to support diverse neurotypes:
-
movement- and sensory-based learning
-
visual tools and structured supports
-
storytelling and identity-based reflection
-
collaborative activities
-
self-paced problem-solving tasks
-
personalised tool-building
The group format encourages connection and shared experiences in a safe, predictable, and neuroaffirming environment.
Program Structure
The GROW Together program is delivered through four core modules, each reflecting a pillar of the GROW™ Framework. Alongside these modules, each session incorporates emotional check-ins, sensory strategies, and accessible communication options.
1 / Understanding who I am, how I learn, and what makes me ‘me’
Participants explore:
-
their neurodivergent identity and strengths
-
sensory preferences and regulation needs
-
body clues, energy levels, and emotional signatures
-
their unique communication style and processing patterns
This module builds self-awareness, reduces shame, and establishes a strong, empowering identity foundation.
2 / Recognising unmet needs and understanding how they influence behaviour
Participants learn that behaviour is a form of communication and that challenges often arise when needs are not met.

This module explores:
-
physiological and sensory needs
-
predictability, structure, and safety needs
-
autonomy and choice
-
connection, rest, and emotional needs
-
the difference between can’t and won’t
Participants develop personalised strategies for identifying and responding to their own needs before overwhelm occurs.
3 / Understanding and expressing communication in ways that feel accessible and safe
We explore:
-
diverse communication styles (spoken, AAC, gesture, visual, movement, scripts, echolalia, silence)
-
how communication changes under stress
-
advocacy scripts and self-expression tools
-
how to repair communication breakdowns
-
how to ask for help using preferred communication methods
Participants develop a personalised “Communication Profile” that supports effective, authentic expression.
4 / Strengthening problem-solving, executive functioning, and emotional regulation skills
This module addresses:
-
flexible thinking
-
navigating transitions and unexpected changes
-
breaking down tasks into manageable steps
-
recognising triggers and early warning signs
-
using visual supports to reduce cognitive load
-
practising co-regulation and self-regulation strategies
-
finding solutions that work across home, school, therapy, and community settings
Participants build a practical GROW Toolkit with personalised regulation strategies, communication supports, and problem-solving resources.
