Group Therapy Program
Building confidence, independence, and community participation at every stage of life
The Community Skills Therapy Program is a small-group, neuroaffirming therapy program designed to support neurodivergent individuals to build practical life skills, confidence, and independence in real-world community settings.

This program is offered across three age groups and focuses on developing the skills needed to participate safely, confidently, and meaningfully in everyday life.

Block-based therapy programs

Offered weekly during school terms and/or school holiday intensives

Clinic-based and community-based sessions (e.g. shops, libraries, cafés, transport environments)

NDIS (agency managed, self-managed and plan-managed) or private fee-paying


Program Details
The Community Skills Therapy Program supports participants to:

Build confidence and independence in everyday community activities

Strengthen social communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills

Develop community safety awareness
-
Build functional life skills that can be used in daily life
Skills are taught in context, not in isolation, so participants can practice and generalise learning in meaningful environments.
Age-Based Program Streams
1
Community Skills – Children (8–12 years)
Designed for children who benefit from supported, guided practice in community settings.
Focus areas may include:

Following routines and group expectations
-
Turn-taking, teamwork, and cooperative play
-
Understanding community rules and safety
-
Early money concepts (paying, waiting, choosing)
-
Emotional regulation in busy or unfamiliar environments
Sessions are highly supported, visual, and play-based, with a strong emphasis on confidence building and participation.

Community Skills – Teens (13–17 years)
Designed for teenagers working towards greater independence and self-confidence in the community.
Focus areas may include:

Social communication and peer interaction

Problem-solving and flexible thinking

Independent shopping and budgeting skills

Navigating public spaces safely
-
Managing emotions, stress, and uncertainty in real-world settings
Programs support identity development, autonomy, and practical skill building in a respectful, age-appropriate way.

Community Skills – Adults (18 years +)
Designed for young adults and adults who want to build or strengthen independent living and community participation skills.
Focus areas may include:

Independent shopping, budgeting, and money handling

Meal planning and preparation

Community navigation and transport skills

Workplace-adjacent skills (communication, planning, teamwork)

Self-advocacy and confidence in everyday interactions

Cyber & Community Safety
Programs are collaborative and strengths-based, recognising participants as experts in their own lives.
